Porsche introduced the first fully electric SUV model: New Macan, with a maximum power transmission system of 639 PS, provides high performance in all types of ground conditions and daily use.

Ten years after its first launch in 2014, the Porsche Macan is entering its second generation with its fully electric model.

Porsche, which has delivered more than 800 thousand Macan models worldwide to date, continues this success story with the fully electric New Macan model, produced with a net carbon-neutral method in its Leipzig facility.

With its modern and timeless design, characteristic Porsche performance, long range and ease of daily use, the new Macan 4 and the new Macan Turbo aim to fully meet the expectations of Porsche enthusiasts who want to choose a luxury SUV.

800 Volt Infrastructure

The new Macan is the first model to be built on Porsche’s Premium Electric Platform.

The car is designed with 800 Volt architecture and stands out with its high voltage battery with a capacity of 100 kWh.

The battery, which has a 270 kW DC charging capacity, can charge the car from 10 percent to 80 percent in approximately 21 minutes at the fast charging station. While driving, up to 240 kW of energy can be recovered thanks to regeneration.

Sporty Coupé-like Design and Increased Dimensions

The new Macan exhibits a stylish and sporty stance with its coupe roof design and frameless doors in the characteristic Porsche line. The new Macan is 4,784 mm long, 1,938 mm wide and 1,622 mm high.

The car offers a dynamic appearance thanks to its increased dimensions, sharper lines and Porsche Design DNA. The new Macan looks more muscular with its increased wheelbase (2893 mm) and 20 – 22 inch wide wheel options.

Daytime running lights with four-point signature LEDs located on the fenders of the vehicle emphasize the width of the vehicle. In the main headlights positioned lower, Matrix LED technology can be purchased optionally. The Porsche logo on the back of the vehicle is now located in the taillight group in 3D.

A Higher Range
Porsche combines design DNA with improved aerodynamics for longer range. Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA), which has an air drag coefficient of 0.25 thanks to active and passive aerodynamic elements that positively affects range and power consumption, makes the new Macan one of the most aerodynamic SUVs on the market.
The PAA system includes the adaptive rear spoiler, active cooling covers on the front air intakes and flexible coatings under the vehicle. The air flaps under the headlamp module and the low front section improve airflow. At the rear, lateral spoilers and diffuser provide aerodynamic efficiency.

Two Luggage Compartments and Larger Interior Volume
The new Macan is a performance-oriented SUV with its daily usability, new equipment options and wide customization options. Depending on the model and the equipment in the vehicle, the rear luggage capacity can go up to 540 liters.

In addition, under the hood there is a second luggage compartment with a capacity of 84 liters, called ‘frunk’. This offers 127 liters more luggage volume than the internal combustion model.

Porsche Driving Experience

The new Macan is equipped with three new screens, including a 12.6-inch digital instrument panel with a curved design, a 10.9-inch central display and an optional passenger display.

The Porsche Driving Experience also includes, for the first time, a HUD (Head Up Display) screen with augmented reality technology. Virtual visuals, such as navigation arrows, are fluidly integrated into the real world.

First Macan with Rear Axle Steering and Two-Valve Shock Absorbers

The electronically controlled differential lock Porsche Torque Distribution Plus (PTV Plus) on the rear axle in the Macan Turbo model increases road holding and driving pleasure.
The renewed Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system includes shock absorbers with two-valve technology. Thanks to the shock absorbers with a wider operating range, a wider range is offered between comfort and performance. This makes the differences between driving programs even more noticeable.

The rear axle steering system, which is offered as an option for the first time in Macan, has a steering angle of 5 degrees. Thanks to this system, it offers a compact turning circle of 11.1 meters in urban traffic and when maneuvering, and provides exceptional driving stability at high speeds, supported by the brand’s balanced and precise front axle steering.

Late 1890s: From sewing machines and bicycles to automobiles

The company’s success story began in 1862. Adam Opel laid the foundations of the company by producing the first sewing machine in Rüsselsheim. It quickly became one of Germany’s largest sewing machine manufacturers and exported to all of Europe.

He took his next successful step on a bicycle. The first “penny-farthing” bicycle was produced in Rüsselsheim in 1886, making the company one of the first bicycle manufacturers in Germany. In parallel with automobile production in the 1920s, it became the largest bicycle manufacturer in the world. Behind this success were the sons of company founder Adam.

They were the ones who made radical changes in motor transportation within the company. Due to the decline of the bicycle trade in the 1890s, the brothers came across the automobile while looking for new products. Fritz and Wilhelm visited the first German Motor Show in Berlin in 1897 and met Friedrich Lutzmann there. The master designer had been producing motor vehicles since 1894 and thus had the experience the brothers were looking for. He invited the brothers to his factory in Dessau; Here Fritz and Wilhelm immediately realized the automobile production potential that Lutzmann offered them.

First advertisements of new models

Although they initially considered cooperation, the brothers later made Lutzmann an attractive offer for the entire production, including land, buildings and workshop equipment.
