The first member of Panasonic’s new media processor series promises to radically transform the process of creating immersive experiences with multi-projection, bringing content effortlessly to life.
With rapidly growing immersive experiences across the continent panasonic Connect Europe has announced that it will launch the first of a new range of Media Processors designed for efficient multi-projection in 2024. Ideal for touring and immersive experiences with fixed installation, the product will simplify workflows while delivering high-quality content for the Location-Based Entertainment industry using Panasonic’s leading projectors.
Normally, computing power for immersive experiences is installed in dedicated server rooms, taking up large space and requiring a lot of cabling and power. The new Media Processor provides a new, flexible and efficient approach with locally distributed computing power in a cellular system, where each projector has its own GPU nearby. Thus, cabling is eliminated and flexibility against signal loss is achieved.
The Media Processor combines the computing power of a media server with the flexibility of a compact and affordable media player, enabling content to be projected onto any surface, including flat and curved screens, and includes the necessary capabilities for domed and 3D objects to be viewed in future versions. The new Media Processor will be available in two formats. A compact hardware box for convenient location outside the media server room and closer to the projectors and an Intel Smart Display Module (SDM) version for direct integration into Panasonic SDM-equipped projectors simplify systems. Both versions will be available for an exclusive preview at ISE 2024 in Barcelona from January 30 to February 2.
Hartmut Kulessa, European Marketing Manager for Visual System Solutions at Panasonic Connect Europe, says: “It is crucial for the entertainment industry to deliver the best possible immersive experience for viewers with the least fuss. “Our new Media Processor draws on all our experience in this sector and is easier to transport, install and operate compared to traditional media processors, while also making it easier to deliver the all-important image quality when using multiple projectors.”
Everything about the new Media Processor is designed to make operators’ lives easier without sacrificing quality. It reduces shipping space for tourist destinations, speeds up installation and installation time with its specialized functionality, minimizes the need for skilled engineers, and allows users to deal with a single manufacturer in case of any questions or problems. It also offers the option to reduce costs by eliminating the need for a server room and extensive cabling for fixed installations. It also removes backroom infrastructure and provides more space for visual elements.
“Our vision is to continue simplifying AV systems and workflows for the Location-Based Entertainment industry,” adds Hartmut. “As we move forward, we will develop new functionality for the system while ensuring users have the flexibility to update only what they need. In this way, we will further increase usability and maximize the return on investment from the solution.”
The box-type Panasonic Media Processor is planned to be released in the 2nd quarter of 2024, and the SDM version is planned to be released in the 4th quarter of 2024.

Google Pixel Tablet 2: Leaks and Cancellation Story
While Google is thought to have long-term plans in the tablet market, recent reports suggested the Pixel Tablet 3 would be released in 2026. However, industry sources stated that the company has canceled the development of Pixel Tablet 2 and later models.
While Google is thought to have long-term plans in the tablet market, recent reports suggested the Pixel Tablet 3 would be released in 2026. However, industry sources stated that the company has canceled the development of Pixel Tablet 2 and later models.
Despite the cancellation decision of Pixel Tablet 2 and later, a new report has leaked the basic hardware improvements that Google Pixel Tablet 2 will bring. Previous leaks had shown that the Pixel Tablet 2 would be equipped with the Tensor G4 chip. Android Authority’s latest report revealed that the Tensor G4 chip will be slightly weaker and will use IPoP (Integrated Packaging on Package) technology instead of FOPLP (Fan-Out Panel Level Packaging). While this change provides cheaper hardware, it may lead to some drawbacks in battery and heat management. The information that Tensor G4 will also be used in Pixel 9a shows that this chip will have a wider usage area in Pixel Tablet 2.
Pixel Tablet 2 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset and will have a 5G modem. However, it was stated that the tablet will not support satellite telecommunications. Thanks to this modem, GPS support can be enabled in variants with cellular connection.
The tablet will work more compatible with smart home device ecosystems with Thread radio integration. The 10.95-inch LCD screen will offer 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate and 550 nits brightness. Thanks to Super Resolution+ technology, low resolution images will be made sharper. Additionally, DAS mode will reduce display lag and provide better visibility in dark scenes with black stabilizer. Blue light reduction and flicker-free technology aim to reduce eye fatigue over long periods of use.
The tablet will stand out with its improved camera features. Triple camera on the back installation It will be equipped with: 108 MP main sensor, 5 MP wide-angle lens and advanced AI features. There will be a 16 MP camera on the front. This camera system will make it possible to take high-quality photos in different lighting conditions.
Although Google canceled the Pixel Tablet 2, leaked technical details do not mean that the device is not developed. It appears that the company is reconsidering its strategies for the Pixel Tablet series and plans to equip it with new technological improvements. Although there is no clear information about whether Pixel Tablet 2 will be released, it is anticipated that Google will continue its efforts to maintain its presence in the tablet market.

Apple Orders M5 Chips
Apple’s M4 chips have impressive performance gains over the M3 series, causing excitement for the M5. Apple ordered new chipsets from TSMC ahead of 2025 production plans.
Apple’s M4 chips have impressive performance gains over the M3 series, causing excitement for the M5. Apple ordered new chipsets from TSMC ahead of 2025 production plans.
The Elec from South Korean media, Applereported that it ordered M5 chip from TSMC. M5 chips will have advanced ARM architecture and will be produced with TSMC’s 3 nm process. The M4 series is also produced with the 3 nm process, but TSMC developed the 3 nm process with improvements in production technology. For a while, it was said that the M5 series would be produced with 2 nm technology. Apple probably gave up on this due to cost. It seems that the technology giant will wait another year or so to use the 2 nm process in the A and M series chips. M5 chips will use TSMC’s System on Integrated Chip, or SoIC technology for short. SoIC means integrating multiple systems within a chip. The processor, memory and most other parts are combined on a single chip.
According to sources, small-scale trial production of new chips has been carried out. It is stated that TSMC is taking step by step to avoid any problems and will move on to the next stage. The M5 series will enter mass production in the 2nd half of 2025. This is another proof that iPad Pros will be skipped and that iPad Pros have entered a 2-year renewal cycle. OLED iPad Pros arrived 2 years after the previous model. Mark Gurman and a few other sources said that Mac mini, iPad Pro, Mac Studio and Mac Pro were included in the 2-year renewal process. MacBook Pros and iMac will likely be the first devices to get the M5 chip. MacBook Airs with M5 won’t ship until spring 2026.
However, there is also the possibility that M5 will be used on Apple servers. According to the report of TrendForce analyst Frank Kung, Apple plans to use the M4 processor in Apple Intelligence servers next year. The servers currently have the M2 Ultra chip. The report also states that Apple asked Foxconn to produce additional servers. It is unclear whether the new servers will feature the standard M4 chip or a higher-end model such as the Pro, Max or the yet-to-be-announced Ultra. It is also unclear whether existing servers with M2 Ultra will be updated to M4 immediately. Analyst Jeff Pu first revealed that the new M series processors would be in servers.
