Panasonic Connect Europe announces the new AK-UCX100 Studio Camera and AK-CFA100 Camera Fiber Adapter. The two products provide customers with the highest quality visuals while providing greater production flexibility for studio or live events.

UCX100 allows users to choose their work style to meet their budget and production challenges. It can work as a single camera or in conjunction with a Camera Fiber Adapter (CFA) or Camera Control Unit (CCU), providing the highest quality footage in any shooting environment. AK-UCX100 and CFA100 will be available from December 2024.

Flexible working

The AK-UCX100 supports 3G and 12G SDI outputs from the camera head and direct connection of the Remote Operation Panel with synchronization and beacon, so it can be operated independently. The camera head can also operate in a non-CCU environment by connecting directly to a 25Gbps network using the ST 2110 media transport network. Full redundancy of the ST 2022-7 is achieved by adding bidirectional SFP+ modules.

Panasonic’s new Fiber Camera Adapter (CFA100) can connect camera power to a standard ST 311 hybrid fiber cable for independent camera operation. Alternatively, the camera can be powered by a CCU or a local 12V XLR power supply. Users can take advantage of power supply mode or connection methods such as Dark Fiber and ST 2110 connection. When used with CFA100, it can power approximately 2km (extending up to a maximum of 10km via fiber optic cable).

When producing content in a traditional studio with the CCU, the camera can optionally pair with Panasonic’s recently released AK-UCU700/UCU710 Series Camera Control Unit, which supports all traditional ports, along with Dante, ST 2110 and ST 2022-7 redundancy. Moreover, optionally NDI^® It supports a wide range of protocols including High Bandwidth, SRT, SMPTE ST 2110 and parallel operation of baseband and IP.

UCX100It can easily pair with any Panasonic camera, including the AW-UE160 PTZ camera, to ensure consistent and compatible production quality. Both cameras share the same sensor, which enables smooth color matching. When used with the AK-UCU700/710 Series, the AK-UCX100 supports 4x high-speed 1080p and 2x high-speed UHD.

Designed for the future of live production

Using the latest innovations, Panasonic has addressed a number of IP conversion issues for users. The UCX100 studio camera complies with the SMPTE ST 2110 IP-based video transmission standard and delivers uncompressed 4K video for both studio-based and live production footage. ST 2110 can be connected via AK-UCU700/UCU710 or directly to the camera for CCU-less operation. For events in bandwidth-limited locations, the UCX100 can deliver visual lossless video quality with low latency using the JPEG XS standard. The ST 2110 will also feature a “tagged VLAN” function that can aggregate connected cameras and simplify management during large-scale network operation.

Bringing live broadcast to life through the lens

UCX100 is designed to bring live stage productions to life through the camera. 2,000 TV lines of resolution reproduces details in high definition. The wide dynamic range and color gamut of HDR (HLG)/BT.2020 delivers rich tones and colors with a sense of realism. In addition, the camera has various shooting support functions, such as a moiré suppression filter that can reduce moire when shooting on LED walls. It also has a high-precision focus indicator that supports guide indicator focus points.
