While South Korea is trying to ban eating dog meat, some are fighting to keep it legal. Farmers who raise dogs and owners of restaurants that serve meat have protested outside parliament, demanding that the government and the ruling People Power Party cancel plans this year to pass a bill to implement the ban. Dog meat farming has been banned in South Korea, but apparently farmers are not happy about it. Here are all the details.

“If I have to close down because of the financial situation I’m in, there are no answers to what I can do,” said Lee Kyeong-sig, who runs a farm outside Seoul that breeds up to 1,100 dogs. “I’ve been in this business for 12 years and this was so sudden.”

A Gallup Korea poll last year showed that almost two-thirds of respondents were against eating dog meat; Only 8% said they had eaten dog in the past year, down from 27% in 2015. This prompted the government to impose restrictions on eating dog meat, but some of the farmers, if not some of the public, are not very happy with this move. In this context, it can be said that farmers in South Korea continue to defy the ban.

Cybersecurity experts investigated the dark web market to track down credentials stolen from popular artificial intelligence and gaming-focused websites and came to the following conclusions.

34 million in the last three years roblox user’s credentials (login information and passwords) were captured by malware and leaked to the dark web.

In 2023, the number of stolen credentials of ChatGPT users increased 33 times compared to the previous year, and 664 thousand records containing logins and passwords were published on the dark web.

The credentials in question were stolen using infostealers, specialized malware designed to steal user logins and passwords by infecting personal and corporate devices through phishing and other methods.

The sale of compromised login credentials forms a significant part of the dark web market. Cybercriminals often buy and sell accounts from various online platforms and services.

These accounts are often initially stolen using data-stealing malware and then leaked to the dark web via skimmer log files, where they can be further monetized as valuable assets in the field of cybercriminal activities.

Attacks on artificial intelligence services have increased

From image editing, translation, transcribing, chatbots to voice generators, the credentials of various AI services are being compromised due to their growing popularity.

For example, in the last three years, the credentials of approximately 1 million 160 thousand users of the artificial intelligence-supported online graphic design tool Canva were compromised by data-stealing malware.

These credentials surfaced on dark web forums and Telegram channels. Approximately 839 thousand user credentials of Grammarly, another popular artificial intelligence assistant, were stolen between 2021 and 2023.

OpenAI, one of the most popular artificial intelligence companies, has also witnessed users’ credentials being leaked as a result of phishing activities.

Between 2021 and 2023, approximately 688 thousand ChatGPT credentials were compromised and located in dark channels. Especially in the last year when chatbots were widely adopted, the number of leaked logins and passwords increased approximately 33 times compared to the previous year, reaching approximately 664 thousand in 2023.

Roblox game poses a threat to children

Between 2021 and 2023, approximately 34 million credentials for the Roblox game were compromised and published on the dark web.

This has made the game a very fertile target for cybercriminals using information-stealing malware. Worryingly, the number of compromised accounts for this popular children’s game is gradually increasing every year.

In the last three years, this figure has increased by 231%, from approximately 4 million 700 thousand in 2021 to 15 million 500 thousand in 2023. Overall, the average number of compromised accounts across Twitch, Electronic Arts, Sony PlayStation, and Steam, along with 11 other random popular gaming platforms or combinations of games, has increased by 112% since 2021.

While there have been numerous cases of Roblox account login credentials being stolen, these are not the main items cybercriminals are searching for on the dark web.

Some other accounts are much more attractive to them. For example, the number of dark web posts selling or buying Steam accounts reached nearly 10 thousand between 2021 and 2023, while ads for stolen Roblox accounts remained below 150.

Paving the Way for Next Generation Extended Reality Experiences

LG envisions that by combining Meta’s platform with its own content/service capabilities in the TV business, a different ecosystem can be created in the XR field, one of the company’s new business areas. Moreover, combining Meta’s various core technological elements with LG’s cutting-edge product and quality capabilities promises significant synergies in developing the next-generation XR device.

XR devices are heralded as the next generation of personal devices that can overcome the immersion and intuitiveness limitations of mobile displays. Wearable devices offer the potential to significantly expand customer interactions. “We see opportunities for next-generation personal devices in the XR business,” CEO Cho previously said.

Continuous Portfolio Development Through Selection and Concentration

In recent years, LG has strategically concentrated its resources on promising areas with high growth prospects, preferring to minimize marginal businesses based on market dynamics and strategic considerations.
